In a radius of 30km around BelBiarge you will find a lot of treasures: in Magné (Château de la Roche with its beautiful 'Jardins du Parc de la Belle'), Gençay (medieval castle), Verteuil-sur-Charente, Bioussac (with its vast garden enriched with special works of art), Brux (Château d'Épanvilliers) and many more...

There are many signposted walking and cycling routes in the immediate vicinity of BelBiarge. They are indicated by the symbol of the fox. Information about the distances, places of interest along the route and a plan can be found in the gîte.
Bicycles can be hired from Speed Cycle in Savigné (it is advisable to book well in advance).

Just 14 km from BelBiarge is the Valley of the Monkeys. In a domain of no less than 22 hectares, you can discover more than 30 primate species and more than 450 monkeys that live there in relative freedom.

Every year, one and a half million people visit the well-known theme park 'Futuroscope' in Poitiers. It is a futuristic park with phenomenal 3D and 4D experiences, large attractions, shows and an unforgettable nocturne in the evening. "Futuroscope" is only 40 minutes' drive from BelBiarge.

Even if you are not a fan of theme parks, Poitiers is worth a visit. Culture lovers will be amazed by the beautiful buildings in the historical centre, such as the Notre-Dame la Grande church, which is enchantingly lit up at night, or by the art treasures in the Musée Sainte-Croix. In addition, the Parc de Blossac is an oasis of peace and greenery, as is the botanical garden "Jardin des Plantes".

La Rochelle, together with its beautiful islands (Ile de Ré, Ile d'Oléron and Ile d'Aix) is definitely recommended for a day trip. BelBiarge is located in a rural area. You can walk in peace through the woods and vast fields that are characterised by endless beautiful sunflower fields at the end of July. Many animals also feel at home in this environment. On your walk, there is a big chance to encounter deer, rabbits, hares, pheasants and birds of prey.

Oradour-sur-Glane is a place of deep historical significance and reflection, visited by 300,000 visitors a year. Destroyed in 1944 during World War II, this village has been preserved as a memorial to the victims of this tragic event. You can walk through its quiet streets and see the ruins of houses, shops and the church, all testifying to the life that was once here. It is a place where history becomes tangible and leaves no one untouched.

For those who want to explore the area in a different way, the Vélorail in Chauvigny is highly recommended. On an old railway, you'll traverse the medieval town of Chauvigny and its green surroundings. Fun for all ages guaranteed!

Bordeaux is a little further from the gîte, but definitely worth a day trip! A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city is known for its rich history, beautiful architecture and world-famous wine. Of course, this is also the perfect base for a tour and wine tasting at one of the many châteaux. Whether you are a lover of history, architecture, culinary delights or wine, Bordeaux has something for everyone and is sure to enchant you with its charm and elegance.
